Shawn checking in

Hey everyone. I'm Shawn, I used to be the IT guy at several of the Ops. centers around the country since 2003. I was let go in the March '07 layoff in Illinois.

Since then I've relocated to Pennsylvania and now work for Clarion County as an IT Specialist. Life is good once again.

Hope to hear from a lot of you.

Shawn.

Welcome to the board kitty smile

I worked at Orange in 2003/2004. I was one of the people who opened that office. Before that I was at the Anaheim office on State College when it was a combo of retail/wholesale.

There are a lot of people I lost touch with when I left Ca. I hope they join the board too. I'd like to hear hoe everyones is doing.

Hi Shawn, long time.....Penny (Asset Control / IT) in Tampa via Deerfield Beach. Glad to hear you are doing well - I hope everyone is. I have kept in touch with a few people but not many, which is a shame, I worked with allot of wonderful people. Things are going well on my end also. Not doing IT or purchasing anymore - I work for a Construction company, as a Financial Analyst. LOVE IT. Great company, great people, not much stress. I just recently got married on Feb 29th. So that is all going GREAT as well. Hi to everyone out there, I wish everyone the best.

Hey Penny, good to hear from you. Congrats on your wedding!  I'm glad to hear you survived the layoff. If you hear from anyone that was in DFB IT, let em know about the board. I'd like to catch up with them smile

Hi Shawn, Orlando (Database Analyst\Reporting Specialist/ IT) in Tampa and Deerfield Beach. Thank you Penny for let me know about this site. Thanks you Shawn for creating a place to keep in touch with everyone. Currently I work in Dunedin, FL as a Web Programmer. I do keep in contact with few people from FNLC. Lars, Smit Sha,Tom. I hope that everyone here was able to recover from the layoff quickly. I left the company before the lay off started.

Hi Orlando - thanks for checking in.  I hope you are doing well.  Do you speak with anyone from the Tampa office anymore?  Please pass this along to them if you do - oh and Betty wanted me to tell you hello also.  I got her a job here with me.  I lost touch with Tammy, and everyone else from that office, so I hope they are all doing ok and found jobs.

Hi Shawn, Penny and Orlando... Larry from Deerfield IT here. Geez, hope you guys still remember me...lol. Just found this site from the "Last NLC" link. I'm so glad to hear that all of you are doing well; that makes me smile. I hope all the decent folks from FNLC have the same kind of good luck story. Take care all, hope to talk to you soon. Oh... Penny, very many congratulations on your wedding; wishing you the best of the best.

Shawn, Penny. Thanks so much for the great responses. I'm doing well thanks, though no longer in IT. Funny, I can't even say that I really miss it, but I sure do miss the great folks I worked with at "you know where"...lol. We might have been a small group at one time, but we sure got some great things accomplished, and I am so very proud of each of you. It's really kind of sad how everyone sort of went their separate ways towards the end, but I guess we were all in "survival" mode, me included. Shawn, let me echo Penny's sentiment... thanks so much for starting this site and keeping it up and running. I hope many many more ex-fnlc'ers find it and start posting here. Well, enough for now... take care all, hope to chat again soon. Big smiles smile.gif

Hey everyone,

I'm John and I worked in the Deerfield IT dept as a printer tech and then I got into Tom MIskela's group. I can't say much good about my time at at First NLC. It was one of the worst dead end situations I've ever been in. Five long years, the last three with no salary increase, not even for cost of living. And then all the layoffs during the last year or so, watching the whole thing deteriorate was painful. The lone bright spot was the people I worked with in IT: Penny, Larry, Orlando, Jason Reid, Art Maggin, Jeremy, Art Schmidt, James, Bob Keber, Smit Shah, Steve Badal, Rima Klevsky, Pedro Suarez, Myra Symons-Kazanci, Rich Coulson - I still miss and think about you. Outside of IT, that's another story. Oh well. Anyway, I left the South Florida area in 2007 and I now reside in Jacksonville FL and am working for a...financial services company. Thankfully, it's nothing like Last NLC. Glad to hear everyone is doing OK. Who knows, I might be back in South Fl someday...

Shawn!!! Penny!!! Larry!!! Joe here, your protege in Anaheim, supported Anaheim Retail and Wholesale. Left on my own term back in July of 07, saw the writing on the wall and didn't want to wait like my wife and so many others who had to suffer the post disaster that was NLC. Missed a lot of good people and friends. Still in touch with Melanie and Thalia, they are doing ok. I am about to celebrate my one year soon as System Engineer for IT Solutions company, check it out www.evolvepartners.com. P so good to hear the wedding went well with no hurricane to ruin it for ya!

Well, well, well - we just have a little IT Reunion going on don't we.  I am so happy to hear from you all.  John I agree towards the end, it was not pretty at all.  I wish things could have turned out better for everyone.  It was a nice strong company when I started out, I loved it very much, I am happy for the time I did have there, the experience I received and the friends I made.   Joe - congrats on your year at your new place, I just passed my year here last week.  I am going to be going to college soon to get my Associates degree, that should be interesting, but I am excited.  I hope some more people log on and leave messages - don't want them to think the old IT people are taking over the message board....  smile.gif LOL.  Talk to you all soon.

Hey everyone!

Great idea, Shawn...this is a great way to keep in touch.  I miss the great people that worked together at The Lending Center.  Please see my recent post in the Retail Forum area.

Joe and Tina, great to hear from you. I've been away for a couple of days and it was a suprise to see more and more people registering.

Joe, tell Melanie to check out the board, I have not talked to her since I left Ca. in '04. I still keep in touch with Thalia on a regular basis.

Tina, saw your other post, good for you. Sounds like you've been very successful in you new position smile I hope you get some good people on board.

Hi Melanie, good to hear from you. Sarah asked me to say hi for her, she still remembers you.

The kids are doing well. Sarah is in second grade now. Justin is in pre-school. Both adjusted well to the move (Sarah both times). I am doing pretty good. I had about a year off of work and am now back on my feet working. I never ran in to any real problems after being let go in March. Had to sell our home, but it turned out to be a good thing - no more Chicagoland property taxes (4K a yearweirdface). Looking back it was a nice vacation and I went back to work very refreshed.

I noticed you said "nothing exciting" for you cry

Hope everything is alright, send me a PM or something so I can get your email address.

Robert from the help desk.

Figured I would register and say Hi since it seems like a lot of old IT people still come here.

Glad to see everyone is doing alright.

Hey everyone, this is Joe - helpdesk from the former Orange Ops center.
I left the company in Dec 06 right before the FNLC madness began to persue a job in Colorado where I still work in the IT field. I still keep in touch with Chris C (for obvious reasons), Myke S who also lives here in Colorado, Thalia, Robert (who turned me onto this forum), Pat S, Leslie from Orange, and Yolanda from Orange.

Good to see all these familiar names again :)

Robert, JoeC... Welcome aboard guys, hope you're both doing very well. Yep, so far it does seem like it's mainly IT folks here. But, I'm sure with time, more and more ex-FNLC'ers will be logging in to say "Hi" and check on old friends. Take care, and hope you keep popping in to chat smile.gif

Yo Yo Yo y'all Thalia here.

It's good to see all of you on here. Shawn - I think we need to ban JT for advertising. ha!

I spent 9 months looking for work and finally landed one about 4 months ago with a company (not mortgage) I did consulting for. It;s much smaller than FNLC. Only 50 people and a bit hard to get out of the corporate atmosphere but I am very thankful to say the least.
i will make sure to check this board and catch up will all of you.

Take care

over and out

Hi Thalia, very glad to hear that things have worked out well for you. I hope you're really happy at your new "place" , and that it's good for you. Fifty employees sounds like a nice number for a company. Seems like the larger a company gets, the less human it gets. Wishing you the best of the best; big smiles smile.gif
